Thomas Cook Airlines are delighted to have teamed up with the UK’s third largest airport, Manchester Airport, to become headline sponsors of this year’s Manchester Pride Big Weekend.
This is the fourth consecutive year for Manchester Airport as headline sponsors but a first for the airline, so we are very excited to be involved with such an important and popular event. And this year looks set to be bigger and better than ever with thousands of people travelling into the city to join in the Pride festivities.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, Manchester Airport is expected to see 342,000 passengers come through its three terminals, some of whom will be heading out to one of Thomas Cook Airlines six USA destinations. The airline is Manchester Airport’s biggest long haul carrier, with increased direct flights to New York and Miami from Manchester Airport.
New 2016 services will also be introduced, direct from Manchester, to Los Angeles and Boston along with brand new onboard premium cabins. To add to the flying experience, our new US destinations will be serviced with a fleet of six long haul aircrafts boasting refurbished and upgraded cabins, a Premium Economy option, wider, more comfy seats, seat-back inflight entertainment and tasty James Martin meals.
So in the name of all things American, we will have a special USA-themed float making its way through Manchester City Centre on Saturday 29th from 1pm, complete with pop band Scooch performing on-board. Staff from both the airline and the airport will be there supporting the event and to celebrate we’re even giving away free flights to New York and LA.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Ken O’Toole, Managing Director of Manchester Airport, said: “We are pleased to jointly sponsor the Manchester Pride festival, alongside one of our largest airlines, as we prepare to welcome thousands of international visitors to the region over the Bank Holiday Weekend. We hope the event will be a great success and wish everyone – staff taking part and members of the public – a great time.”
Christoph Debus from Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “Manchester is our biggest base in the UK and we have more long haul routes from here with our new premium economy cabin than any other airline, so it’s a natural fit to support The Big Weekend too. It’s going to be a massive party and we hope it’ll encourage visitors to try our USA routes in particular, which are growing every year.”
