Where to go in the USA for Halloween


No one does Halloween quite like the USA, Americans love to have fun and Halloween is an excuse to dress up in a crazy costume and act as silly as possible. The great thing about Halloween is that unlike some other holidays, you can get as involved as you like, so whether you’re the life and soul of the party or prefer to watch from the sidelines, the USA is the place to truly experience Halloween madness.

Village Halloween Parade – New York

Wearing a costume is the most important part of Halloween either handmade or bought the more creative you are the better. While shop bought costumes are much easier to get hold of, handmade costumes often get much respect and interest from fellow Halloween lovers particularly if you’re planning a trip to New York!

New Yorkers love Halloween, it’s one of their favorite holidays and an excuse to scare people silly so if you’re planning a Halloween trip to the Big Apple make sure you wear a costume to be proud of and join the famous Village Halloween Parade, it’s an experience you’re not likely to forget.

Getting there: Fly from Manchester to New York, New York.  Make sure to book your accommodation as early as possible, Halloween is a popular time of year to visit the city.

Salem Haunted Happenings – Salem, Massachusetts

When it comes to witchcraft, the spooky town of Salem comes to mind.  Famous for the Salem witch trials, this sleepy little city will probably never be able to shake it’s connection with all things frightening.  It’s no surprise that Halloween in Salem is a big deal, it’s also one of the most authentic experiences you a likely to have.

Salem Haunted Happenings takes place throughout September and October, with a series of events, educationals, parades and spooky experiences, if you want to be fully immersed in the true meaning of Halloween, Salem is the place to be.

Getting there: Fly from Manchester to Boston, Massachusetts – Salem is  just 40 minutes outside of Boston by car, train or ferry.  Getting accommodation in the town is very difficult, I would suggest staying in Boston and travelling up to Salam.

Halloween Night Costume Carnaval – Hollywood, LA 

There’s plenty going on in LA on Halloween night, whether that’s fright nights, haunted zoos, A list parties or street parades, the people of LA love to party on Halloween.  When it comes to picking your costume the scarier the better, you have to be creative to stand out, witches, ghouls and goblins aren’t going cut it here.

The largest Halloween costume party in the world happens in West Hollywood! Every year on October 31st, 500,000 people take to the streets of Santa Monica to enjoy the wild costumes and uninhibited crowds at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.  The Carnaval features live entertainment, food vendors, and photo stations; and the bars along Santa Monica Boulevard take part with drink specials and patio parties.

Getting there: Fly from Manchester to LA, California, stay in West Hollywood or the Santa Monica so you can get the full Miami Halloween experience.

Boo at FIU: A Haunted House Extravaganza – Miami, Florida 

A college campus makes a hell of a setting for Halloween, think of just about every horror film you have seen, they all start out at a college Halloween party.  Florida University is famous for its awesome Halloween parties, expect haunted houses, “Thriller” performances, games, food, vendors , fun and frights.

Getting there: Fly from Manchester to Miami, head to Ocean Drive and take in the atmosphere.  There are plenty of hotels to choose from.

Halloween Parties in Las Vegas – Las Vegas, Nevada                                                                                                                Looking for Halloween parties? take your pick! Las Vegas is party central all year round, but at Halloween the famous hotels of Las Vegas pull out all the stops to give guests the fright night of their lives. 20th Annual Fetish & Fantasy Ball
The Hard Rock Hotel hosts the annual Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball inside The Joint, one of Vegas’ wildest parties where anything goes.  The party starts at 10 pm on Halloween night and usually attracts some famous faces. Costumes are required for entry so make sure to make an effort.  Tickets are between $49.50 – $100

Heaven & Hell Las Vegas Halloween                                                                                                                                                Moon Nightclub and The View, at the Palms Hotel, host the Heaven & Hell party on Halloween night from 10 p.m. – 3 a.m.  Dance to top DJs and see costumed angels and goddesses in Heaven and sexy devils and demons in Hell.  Tickets are between $25 and up.

Fright Dome
See one of the scariest haunted house attractions in the USA at the Circus’ Adventuredome. The  theme park is transformed into six haunted houses and four scare zones. All of the theme park’s rides are included and ridden in the dark. Fright Dome runs throughout October from 7 p.m – midnight. Tickets are between $35.95 – $89.95.
