We have 244 flights going to 47 destinations this weekend (19th, 20thand 21stJuly 2019) with more than 54,000 holidaymakers taking to the skies. With 63,000 minutes of flying time, 800,000 km will be flown by 533 pilots – the equivalent of flying around the earth twenty times!

Turkey is our second most popular destination this summer, overtaking Greece and only second to Spain, this weekend.  Dalaman and Antalya in Turkey are the top two most popular getaways, with stunning Majorca in third place.

We will have an amazing 1,638 cabin crew looking after customers in the air and they expect to serve 6,000 gin and tonics and 18,000 teas and coffees throughout the weekend. Customers will sit back and relax to watch an epic 14,553  movies on board.

The busiest weekend kicks off the busy summer months of July and August in resort, where through the summer, 600 Thomas Cook reps will be on hand to help customers and 106,000 airport transfer journeys and 60,000 welcome meetings will take place. You guys are also expected to book 320,000 day trips to explore the local areas.  That’s a lot of adventures!

Paul Hutchings, Managing Director Operations at Thomas Cook Group Airline said, “The team in our operations control centre will be working around the clock from our Manchester headquarters this weekend to manage our busy timetable, together with our on the ground teams at airports throughout the UK. Manchester Airport is set to be our busiest airport for departures, with over nineteen and a half thousand customers flying to destinations in Europe and beyond, such as Cancun, New York and Orlando over the next three days.”

Dean Thomas, Head of In Destination Operations at Thomas Cook Group, added: “This weekend officially marks the start of summer but for our teams in resort, it’s the culmination of months of training and preparation to make sure everything is ready for holidaymakers when they step off the plane. We received over 6,000 applications for our 600 rep positions this summer and from welcoming customers at the airport to recommending the little known spot for the best sunset on the island, our experts are all set for the summer season ahead.”
