Malta is one of those places that’s perfect to take the family to. There are a number of activities both you and the kids will enjoy, and there’s plenty enough to ensure that you leave with a few experiences you’ll never forget.
Badger Karting is open throughout the year, and is one for you if you have older children. The karts are quite powerful, potentially reaching up to 80km/h, and these whizz and dash over the winding tracks at the venue in Ta’ Qali (all 17 of them!) as you jockey for first place. There is also a clubhouse nearby where you can sit and enjoy a drink if you just want to watch the others race, with a viewing gallery on the roof allowing you to watch the race unfold.
A little bit of Robin Hood in Malta, and somewhere for the kids to learn a fun, new activity they can carry on with at home. There are basic archery course and individual, specialised lessons at Falcon Archery depending upon your needs, teaching you all the basic from nocking an arrow to its final release at the target. These aren’t too expensive for what they are, ranging from €35 to €55 Euros, so it’s well worth the visit if you’re wanting to add something a little different to your Maltese break.
Golden Bay Horse Riding
The horse riding at Golden Bay can accommodate anyone from the age of 5 up, so this is one for the entire family, and a great chance for your children to experience trekking for the first time. Head to Mellieha and you’ll be greeted by your instructor, who can either teach you with a personalised lesson or take you on an hour to 90-minute tour of the local area on horseback, ending with a brilliant sunset over the Mediterranean. Be sure to book beforehand as this is a very popular activity among tourists and locals alike.
Mediterraneo Marine Park
The Mediterraneo Marine Park is teeming with marine life which will excite everyone in your family as you tour it, with many animals on show. The marine life such as sea lions and dolphins are matched by the turtles, spiders, birds and reptiles also common to the region, with three primary shows throughout the day: Dolphins, Sea Lions and Parrots. Travel up to Bahar ic-Caghag for the show.
Splash and Fun Water Park
Splash and Fun Water Park is exactly what it says in the tin. Located in the north of Malta on Coast Road, Bahar ic-Caghaq, the water park is absolutely filled with huge slides and water rides, meaning you’ll get a lot of variety and be able to cool off from the Mediterranean sun at the same time. The attractions are of bizarre shapes and sizes, so there’s always a fresh feel as you launch yourself down, twisting and turning into the pools below.
